For independent practices
Your practice could be a clinical trial site. We handle the hard parts.
Amavita Research helps independent practices become research sites for industry-sponsored clinical trials, with your own physician as investigator. We provide site management and support: study sourcing, contracts, IRB, training and quality. Your patients stay your patients, and their study visits happen at your practice.
There’s no cost to join, and your team is paid at fair-market value for the research work it does. We don’t buy practices, so your practice and your patients stay yours.
GCSA-certified Miami clinical trial site · ICH-GCP E6 (R3) · 19 pharma and device sponsors across active and completed trials
The patients you already see may qualify for studies sponsors are running now.
Drug and device companies need doctors and patients to run clinical trials. Many of these studies are in conditions you treat every day, such as high blood pressure, heart failure and other chronic diseases.
Sponsors tend to go back to research sites they already know. That means many independent practices with large, loyal patient panels are never asked to take part.
Adding research to your practice can mean:
- A new source of practice revenue, earned through research work your team performs, separate from your fee-for-service billing.
- One more option for your patients: a study close to home, with their own doctor involved.
- Early, hands-on experience with therapies still in development.
- New skills and a growth path for your staff.
Trials are not right for every patient, and an investigational treatment may not help. Taking part is always voluntary and starts with informed consent.
You see patients. We run the research machinery.
Study sourcing and sponsor relationships
We find studies that fit your patients and specialty, and we make the introduction to the sponsor.
Contracts and budgets
We help negotiate the clinical trial agreement and budget so that every line pays fairly for the work.
IRB and regulatory work
Submissions, essential documents, investigator paperwork and amendments, prepared and tracked.
Coordinator training and GCP
We train your staff on ICH-GCP E6 (R3), the protocol and the study systems.
Quality and monitoring readiness
Source documents, checklists and audit-ready files, so monitor visits go smoothly.
Billing separation
We help set up a coverage analysis so that study-paid items are never billed to patients or their insurance, and routine care is billed correctly.
We work with independent practices across Florida and beyond, with remote study support plus on-site coordinator support where needed.
What we ask of you
- A physician investigator's time — A licensed physician in your practice who agrees to oversee each study and set aside regular time for it. That role carries real responsibilities, and we help you meet them.
- An exam room — Space for study visits, secure storage for study supplies, and a place where a monitor can review records.
- A staff point of contact — One team member who coordinates with us and can be trained as a study coordinator.
- Openness to training — GCP and protocol training for your investigator and staff, which we provide.
Three steps, and you stay in control at every one
Step 1 — Free research check
Your own team runs simple aggregate counts inside your EMR, with our guidance, for example "adults with high blood pressure seen in the last 12 months." Only de-identified totals are shared with us. No patient data leaves your practice: no names, no charts and no PHI. You get a short summary of the types of studies your panel could support.
Step 2 — Matching a study
When a sponsor study fits, your own team reviews records under the study's IRB-approved process, and your staff make first contact with any patient. You decide which patients to talk to. Each patient decides whether to take part, after informed consent.
Step 3 — Your practice becomes a research site
Your practice is the research site and your physician is the investigator. We take you through the contract, budget, IRB approval, training and site initiation, then stay with you through monitoring visits, enrollment and closeout.
An honest timeline: plan on several months from our first conversation to your first study patient. It depends on which studies are open, whether your patients match, and each sponsor’s site-selection and start-up process, so we don’t promise dates.
Choose how involved you want to be
Start where you’re comfortable. Many practices begin with the first path and move up over time.

- Time commitment
- Light. A short call and a simple count in your EMR.
- Experience needed
- None.
Partner site with our coordinator
Your practice is the research site and your physician is the investigator, with an Amavita Research coordinator supporting the day-to-day study work.
- Time commitment
- Moderate. Investigator oversight plus space for study visits.
- Experience needed
- Some.
Full investigator site
Your own trained team runs studies at your practice, with Amavita Research providing site management and support: sourcing, contracts, regulatory work and quality.
- Time commitment
- Higher. A trained in-house coordinator and regular investigator time.
- Experience needed

We never pay for referrals or pre-screening. Research work is paid at fixed, fair-market-value rates set in a written agreement, and the sponsor makes the final decision on site selection.
How sites get paid, explained simply
Sponsors pay research sites for work performed. The terms are set in a written clinical trial agreement and a budget negotiated before the study starts. Payments are at fair-market value for that work. They are never for referrals, and they are never tied to which treatment a patient receives.
A typical site budget includes:
- Startup fee: pays for getting the study ready (regulatory documents, training, systems setup).
- Per-visit payments: a set amount for each protocol visit your team completes and documents.
- Per-procedure payments: for protocol-required procedures, such as ECGs, labs or questionnaires, that are not part of routine care.
- Screen-fail payments: for screening work done when a consented person turns out not to be eligible.
- Administrative fees: for items such as IRB fees, monitoring visits, record storage and closeout.
How pay works
- Fixed, fair-market-value rates for the research work your team does, agreed in writing before a study starts.
- Transparent budgets: you see every line before you sign.
- No percentages of study budgets, and no pay per referral or per pre-screen.
- No exclusivity. You can step away with notice.
Real budgets vary widely by sponsor, protocol and phase. We review every line with you before you sign.
Research income is not guaranteed. It depends on the studies available, on eligibility and on the work your team completes.
Built by people who run a real trial site
- Florida-based, bilingual support — Our team is in Miami and works in English and Spanish, with remote study support and on-site coordinator support where needed.
- Direct access to Julio — You work directly with our CEO, Julio G. Martinez-Clark, who has 20+ years of experience in clinical research operations across the Americas.
- Cardiovascular depth — Our investigators include Dr. William W. O'Neill, MD, FACC, and Dr. Pedro Martinez-Clark, MD, FACC. Our affiliated cardiovascular ASC in Kendall, Advanced Cardiovascular of Miami, has 8 monitored observation beds with continuous ECG telemetry.
- A path to device sponsors through bioaccess® — Julio is also CEO of our sister company bioaccess®, a CRO that runs first-in-human device and drug studies in Latin America. Device companies that start there often look for US sites next, and we can introduce partner practices when a protocol fits.
- We operate a trial site ourselves — Amavita Research is a GCSA-certified (Feb 2025), ICH-GCP E6 (R3) cardiovascular clinical trial site in Miami and the research arm of amavita Heart and Vascular Health®, an independent Miami cardiovascular practice. Six studies are active now, with 19 pharma and device sponsors across active and completed trials, including Pfizer, Alnylam and Pharmacosmos.
A note from Julio
"Independent practices see the patients sponsors need, but they rarely get asked. My goal is to bring that research work, and the revenue that comes with it, to the doctors who earn it, while their patients stay their patients."
