Amavita Research is led by globally recognized investigators bringing decades of breakthrough cardiovascular experience to Miami.
Amavita Research is the clinical research division of amavita Heart and Vascular Health®, a private cardiology practice in North Miami Beach, FL. Operating as Amavita Research Services LLC, the trial site is structured as an independent investigator-led research operation embedded inside an active cardiology practice. The practicing cardiologists who treat patients in routine clinical care also serve as Principal Investigators on cardiovascular trials, producing continuous patient flow and consistent PI engagement that database-recruited or rotating-PI sites cannot match.

bioaccess®, Amavita Research, Amavita Sciences™, and amavita Heart and Vascular Health® are sister companies in the same Miami group: the First-in-Human CRO and LATAM registration/IOR holder, a GCSA-certified Miami cardiovascular trial site, LATAM regulatory-translation infrastructure, and the South Florida cardiovascular practice.
Amavita Research's mission is to accelerate the development of new treatments by serving as a high-quality, independent cardiovascular clinical trial site for sponsors who value PI continuity, named accountability, predictable patient flow, and capital efficiency. Our Miami site focuses on cardiovascular indications — hypertension, heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, peripheral artery disease, iron deficiency in heart failure, and related conditions — where our practicing cardiologist PIs have deep subspecialty experience.

Apogee Award for Excellence in Healthcare
Dr. Pedro Martinez-Clark began his medical career in Colombia before moving to the United States for advanced training. He completed research at Harvard, his medical residency at Case Western Reserve University, and returned to Harvard for specialized training in cardiovascular and interventional cardiology.
He later joined the University of Miami as a professor and physician, working alongside renowned cardiologist Dr. William O'Neill on complex structural-heart cases. Dr. Martinez-Clark has led more than 25 clinical research trials, contributed to the development of the Trans-Caval approach to transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and served as Worldwide Principal Investigator on the Percutaneous Mitral Valve Annuloplasty trial. Marquee studies he has run or is currently running include CYCLE (heart failure), CHAMP-HF Registry, GREAT (Golazo® peripheral atherectomy), Pathfinder I (AURYON), Percutaneous Mitral Valve Annuloplasty, and SPARE-MR.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and recipient of the 2023 Apogee Award for Excellence in Healthcare. In 2017 he founded amavita Heart and Vascular Health®, where he serves as CEO. Today amavita is an independent Miami cardiovascular practice; 16,000+ patients seen in the last 3 years — and Amavita Research is its dedicated research arm. The practice works with Jackson Memorial and Mercy Hospitals while remaining independent to keep patients first.

Clinical Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University and electrophysiologist at Heart Rhythm Specialists of South Florida. Joined Amavita Research as Sub-Investigator on AnaCardio AC01-02 and other arrhythmia and device trials.

Florida-licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN #9443547), Family Nurse Practitioner (Universidad de Turabo, Puerto Rico, 2018), AANP-certified, and Florida-licensed RN since 2016. Bilingual (English / Spanish). Sub-Investigator on Amavita's active cardiovascular protocols, working closely with Dr. Pedro Martinez-Clark. Owns patient screening and informed consent, source data verification, sponsor monitor visit support, and visit-window adherence on the active portfolio.
Sub-Investigator, Cardiovascular Physician Assistant
Board-certified Cardiovascular Physician Assistant with a Colombian medical degree (Universidad San Martin, Bogota, 2007) and 14+ years of research and clinical experience across the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Amavita Health. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Co-author on peer-reviewed cardiovascular research (American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2019).
Sub-Investigator, Cardiovascular Physician Assistant
NCCPA-Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) and Florida-licensed Cardiovascular Physician Assistant at amavita Heart and Vascular Health® since 2023. MMS with Honors from Saint Francis University, Loretto, PA (2022); Bachelor in Physician Assistant Studies with Honors from Miami Dade College (2020); also a Foreign Medical Doctor (Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia, 2004). Bilingual in English and Spanish. Interprets 2D echocardiograms, stress tests, cardiac monitors, and vascular studies, and coordinates patient evaluations and care plans. Adidley Garcia coordinates clinical study operations at Amavita Research as Site Coordinator and Research Nurse, supporting trial conduct, participant care, and ICH-GCP E6 (R3) compliance at our Miami site.
Director of Clinical Education and Quality
International medical graduate (Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia, 2019, GPA 4.23) with focused experience in cardiovascular research coordination, medical education, and clinical quality. Director of Clinical Education and Quality at amavita Heart & Vascular and CardioElite™ since 2024; previously Research Coordinator at amavita Heart & Vascular (2022–2024), where he coordinated cardiovascular research operations including patient identification, data collection, protocol support, and cross-team coordination. Supports Amavita Research with clinical education for advanced-practice providers, documentation standards, workflow standardization, and quality oversight across cardiology trial workflows. amavita Heart and Vascular Health® is an independent Miami cardiovascular practice; 16,000+ patients seen in the last 3 years . The practice is independent of any academic medical system.
Patients are seen in-house through our affiliated cardiovascular practice. Our PIs are practicing cardiologists at amavita with active patient panels — they see trial-eligible patients in clinic every day. Sponsors get enrollment from a continuously-recruiting cardiology practice, not a CRO sourcing from referral networks.

Our North Miami Beach legal address, clinical trial site and heart practice are purpose-built for clinical research, with dedicated exam rooms, monitored study drug storage, on-site phlebotomy and processing, and secure document management. Our Kendall location is the operating cardiovascular surgery center.
