Biography

Angela Paez is a board-certified Cardiovascular Physician Assistant at Amavita Health, the clinical practice partner of Amavita Research. She supports the research site as a Sub-Investigator on cardiovascular trials, contributing clinical assessments, patient screening, source documentation, and informed-consent witnessing across the active portfolio.

She trained as a physician in Colombia, earning her Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad San Martin in Bogota in 2007, before practicing as an ER physician at Hospital Reina Sofia and Hospital Bosa. She later completed clinical rotations in internal medicine, plastic surgery, and anesthesiology at Real Hospital Português in Recife, Brazil, and volunteered as an OR physician at Hospital de Cancer de Pernambuco.

In the United States she completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Miami Dade College and a Master of Medical Science at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania — both with High Honors. Before earning her PA credentials, she spent more than eight years in research roles at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (Research Volunteer in Anesthesiology, Research Associate II in Surgery, Research Coordinator in Surgery and the Vascular Biology Institute) and as a Clinical Study Coordinator at AGA Clinical Trials.

She is a published co-author in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases (Martinez et al., 2019, "Transcriptomics of Human Arteriovenous Fistula Failure: Genes Associated with Nonmaturation"), a two-time recipient of the Presidents' Volunteer Service Award (2019 and 2020), and a member of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese — a rare combination that makes her especially valuable to sponsors recruiting in South Florida's diverse Latin American and Brazilian-American populations.
