Biography
Dr. Pedro Martinez-Clark began his medical career in Colombia before moving to the United States for advanced training. He completed research at Harvard, internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University, and returned to Harvard for fellowship training in cardiovascular and interventional cardiology.
He later joined the University of Miami as faculty, working alongside Dr. William O'Neill on complex structural-heart cases. Dr. Martinez-Clark has led more than 25 clinical research trials, contributed to the development of the Trans-Caval approach to TAVR, and served as Worldwide Principal Investigator on the Percutaneous Mitral Valve Annuloplasty trial. Recent and active studies he has run include CYCLE (heart failure), CHAMP-HF Registry, GREAT (Golazo® peripheral atherectomy), Pathfinder I (AURYON), and SPARE-MR.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), an IAOCR-Qualified Investigator, and recipient of the 2023 Apogee Award for Excellence in Healthcare. In 2017 he founded amavita Heart and Vascular Health® and serves as its CEO. Amavita Research is the dedicated clinical-trials arm of the practice.
